Our Story

Founded in 2023, Lumos emerged from a simple yet powerful vision: to create electronic solutions that illuminate possibilities and redefine safety. Our journey began with the recognition of a critical need for safer, more reliable alternatives to traditional emergency signaling devices.

What started as a mission to revolutionize electronic flares has grown into a broader pursuit of innovation. Today, Lumos is preparing to launch its flagship product, Lumos|Flare, on Kickstarter - a next-generation emergency flare designed to combine safety, durability, and sustainability. Alongside this, we've expanded into Studio by Lumos, our creative production arm that brings bold ideas to life through media, storytelling, and design.

Together, these efforts represent our commitment to building technology and creative experiences that stand out, inspire trust, and make an impact.

Meet the visionaries leading Lumos into the future

Ashley Fox

Chief Executive Officer

Ash brings decades of IT and media production experience to Lumos, combining technical expertise with creative training. They lead our R&D efforts, handle most of the coding, and manage the company's day-to-day operations.

Adam Faylor

Chief Operations Officer

Adam brings extensive IT and electronics experience to Lumos, having led teams at multiple companies. He manages our in-house network infrastructure and works closely with Ash on daily operations and strategic planning.

Jason McWilliams

Marketing Director

Jason heads our Marketing Department, leading social media, advertising, and branding efforts. He works closely with the team to ensure every campaign reflects our vision and meets high standards of quality and creativity.

Sydnee Faylor

Creative Director

Syd leads our visual branding, creating artwork for social media, the website, and other marketing efforts. She collaborates with the team to maintain a consistent style and is currently pursuing a degree in art to further her creative skills.

Van Terry

Logistics Director

Van oversees logistics and daily operations at Lumos, helping ensure smooth workflows, timely deliveries, and customer satisfaction. He also assists with studio management and supports the team with project coordination and ongoing company needs.

March 2023

Company Founded

Founded in March 2023, Lumos creates smart technology for public safety and creative spaces that support innovation and impact.

January 2024

First Flare Prototype

Built and tested the first working Lumos|Flare prototype, confirming our vision for safer, more reliable emergency signaling. Learn more here.

July 2025

Finalizing Flare Main Board

Completed the final Flare main board prototype and entered testing, while beginning design of the optic and aluminum chassis, partnering with local facilities.

January 2026

Office/Studio Acquisition

Scheduled acquisition of our office space is set for the beginning of January 2026, alongside the launch of our Pittsburgh-based selfie studio / creator-focused studio.

March 2026

Kickstarter Launch

Kickstarter campaign for Lumos|Flare is planned to launch in March 2026, bringing a product to market that will change safety flares as we know them forever.
